Hi everyone,
Hope everyone had a great week!!! Unfortunately, I had a tough week at work with managing students’ behavior. Therefore, this post is dedicated to sharing some SEL (socio-emotional learning) tips to teach students to self-regulate their feelings and actions.
I set up my affirmation center with the help of my paras. Students can look at the post it notes to feel better if they are having a rough day. They are also encouraged to take a post it note with them if they need it for positivity throughout their day. I also have yoga mats and a calm corner with tools to help them self regulate if they are feeling angry.
My favorite tool to use for teaching SEL in my classroom is the box of cards I’ve received from my Donorschoose project. It asks my students to match the emotion to the action so students can self reflect on their behavior after they had calm down.
