Today at Apple Sessions

Hello awesome friends! 🙂

Summer is slowly approaching NYC as it is finally June! It was a long and hard year but I’m glad we all made it to the last stretch! 🙂 If you are in NYC or Canada, you are most likely teaching until the end of June. For my school, I end on June 27. This means summer break is about 3 weeks away!!! I am super excited for a break but I also like to stay productive to not fall into a sluggish summer.

Today, I went with 2 of my friends to the Apple store in Soho, NYC. I heard that Apple stores are offering free sessions (called Today at Apple) on Apple apps and products, such as getting started with the Macbook or Ipad, brushing up on Garageband skills, etc. My Today at Apple class was called “Art Skills: Getting Started with Procreate”. I bought Procreate at the recommendation of an Apple specialist and a friend of mine. I heard many good reviews raving about how wonderful Procreate is in the graphic design/digital art field. Since I bought a new Ipad mini 6 and Apple Pencil 2 back in February, I decided to give Procreate a try.

Procreate is a one-time purchase (at the moment, it’s $12.99). There are many awesome features, such as color palette, saturation, opacity, brush strokes, time-lapse video, etc. While my Today at Apple session touched upon the beginner skills of Procreate, I was happy to get an introduction to this app as I was totally lost about it. While I am still a beginner at Procreate, I am hoping that practice can help me better! 🙂

Also, before I ramble on, here is the link to registering for free Today at Apple sessions: https://www.apple.com/today/ Various Apple stores have these sessions in many different states. You can register for sessions going over video, photography, animation, coding, art, getting started skills, etc. in Apple products. There are also sessions specifically for kids, especially the Design Lab: Draw Your Astronaut Inspired by Snoopy in Space (I heard this session is extremely popular!).

Here is also a picture of how my Today at Apple session about Procreate looked like (I feel like it was a laid-back and safe environment):

The cubes act like desks or seats. There are couches (lined up in a bench format) for participants to sit on as well.
