Hello awesome friends!
Welcome back to another round of teacher tech tip Tuesday! This time, we will be exploring AR for Ipads in a classroom setting! I remembered being in college when Pokemon Go was extremely popular and everyone was playing that game. Pokemon Go made the Pokemon creatures seem very realistic, like they were actually in front of you. The Pokemon Go app is basically an AR app.
In simple terms, using AR apps allows students and teachers to have interactions with the learning. For example, use of 3D models. AR (when done appropriately) is a powerful edtech tool in education because it allows students to see how their learning comes to life. It makes viewers feel like they are physically inside a distinctive world by using technology. AR also helps bridge the gap between abstract and concrete concepts. Many AR apps are also free or low-cost on the Ipad. They are easy to download and use for students.
There are many popular AR programs for different subject areas. Since I am a huge fan of Apple (By the way, I do not work for Apple nor do I represent Apple in any shape or form), I’ve decided to share a popular PDF of AR programs for the Ipad below:
