Teacher Tech Tip Tuesday #6 – AI Art

Hello awesome friends!

Today’s teacher tech tip Tuesday will focus on AI art! In my CS4all AI + equity cohort, we spoke a lot about the integrity of AI art, copyright issues, and lawsuits. Some of my cohort members shared that your students can also debate about the integrity of AI art and how “much” of the art is actually your own. Although there is a lot of intense debate about AI art, I would still like share a few educational programs that I’ve learned about in my cohort meetings. You can most definitely try them out with your students!

  • https://www.autodraw.com/ – This program allows students to draw with their fingers or mouse and AI-generated images similar to the drawing will pop up on the top. Students can also use the given shapes (circle, square, triangle) to create their drawing.
  • https://www.canva.com/ai-image-generator/ – Canva is a very popular program that can be used by both students and educators. You type in the images of what you want to use and Canva will generate images based on your preferences. It is best to be more descriptive and wordy in your image preferences to narrow down the choices. You can then edit the image on Canva.
  • https://www.craiyon.com/ – This program asks you to type in what AI art you want to generate. There is also drawing and photo options. Similarly to Canva, the more descriptive and wordy you are, the more precise the AI-generated artwork will be. However, this site has many ads so it’s best to be cautious about using it.
  • https://firefly.adobe.com/ – This program is still in the beta testing phrase so it definitely is still in the works. There are many options to choose from, such as 3D to image (my favorite option to use right now). What I love about Adobe’s firefly is the gallery of AI-generated images they included on their website to help jumpstart your creativity!

Hope these programs are helpful in teaching your students about AI art or just using them to create something as a hobby!

xoxo,

Kelly
