Teacher Tech Tip Tuesday #4 – Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom

Hello awesome friends and visitors!

Welcome back to another round of teacher tech tip Tuesday! As I’ve shared in my earlier posts, I was accepted into the CS4all (computer science 4 all) cohort about artificial intelligence and equity in schools. I started my AI cohort trainings yesterday on August 7 and the presenters are super informative! I am learning so much and I’ve decided to share with you all about AI!

Artificial intelligence mimics (can even surpass) human intelligence! An example of AI is when you are browsing an item online, AI will show advertisements for that item and similar items because it can track what you would like to purchase. If you haven’t heard so already, the new buzz in edtech is now chatbots. This includes the famous ChatGPT and Google Bard. Many educators have been using chatbots to lesson plan and design meaningful activities for their students. As helpful as chatbots may be, there is a lot of inaccurate and false information given to the public via these chatbots. Therefore, it is hard to determine if the information is reliable or not.

For today’s tech tip, I will dive into a chatbot mainly for school purpose called “Stretch”! Stretch is not out yet BUT it will be rolling out soon enough. It is currently in the testing phrase. Unlike other chatbots that may include inaccurate information, Stretch gives information that has been examined by Edtech organizations, including ISTE. ISTE is a huge supporter of Stretch. Stretch also cites where it gets the information, which helps them gain a reputation for being more reliable. Once this chatbot is released, I will be sure to write another post about it. If you are curious about Stretch, you can sign up for news about it below:

Stay tuned!

xoxo,

Kelly
